I bought this printer for the sole purpose of printing frankly on dvds (i shoot short films and am constantly needing to reprint on dvds to submit for film festivals). scrutinizing the internet i couldn’t find a solid recommendation for a printer — so, for the relatively small bit of money, i tried this one. and it works great for this purpose.
Also, a extremely significant thing for apple computer owners: the epson artisan 50 hit came with a proper install cd for anybody using the snow leopard os. I had tried to find this software online (for a friend whose epson r 280 printer had stopped working/printing his dvds) to no avail. But this comes inside the packing along with the printer. This is invaluable.
From unpacking to test printing a dvd was about 10 minutes.
